Moving characters and objects

It’s been noted over the years that MI3 doesn’t feature other walking characters like MI1 and MI2 do. This is true in one sense as nobody really ‘walks around’ aside from Guybrush, but it might suggest the game is more static than it really is.

The code features numerous implementations of the walk feature, where a character or object is directed to move to a certain landmark in the scene such as a doorway, or in some cases a dynamic destination or hidden area off-screen.

For characters, in most cases this is instantaneous, so while we get to see the character in different locations we don’t get to see the walk itself. For objects, there’s usually true movement and sometimes a special animation that accompanies it.
